"String skipping opens the door to some really interesting wide intervals," says George. The following example, figure 15, "...is a cool F diminished (F, Ab, B, D) string skipping thing that I used to do in my live guitar solo. It's just a basic diminished shape shifted up the neck."

Figure 16 is a string skipping and sliding exercise George has used in several recorded solos.
Figure 17 is a very similar run but with a different rhythmic patter--16th notes instead of eighth-note triplets. There is a very different feel here.
