Gothic Octave

The following example demonstrates George's use of "economy picking" with ascending and descending notes. Figure 1 is an A-minor run that can also be used as an exercise for the left hand.

Figure 2 is the fingering pattern as a fretboard diagram. Wide stretching patterns are common in George's playing. This particular lick is something he calls "Gothic Octave." This is yet another lick and pattern that appears in much of George's recorded work.
